- Surrender.
The humpback whales that come to Hawai'i every winter are pure
grace in the water. Above the surface you see the blows and the
splashes and slaps, but below the surface is a dance. These enormous
animals will sometimes just hang there, wings open as if they
are surrendering themselves to the ocean and to the light. I
wanted to capture that feeling in this piece..

- Turtle in the
Sea. Sea turtles are such a graceful sight to see in the water.
On land, they lumber, but in the sea they truly glide. This piece
is installed in a room that gets very strong western light. The
window, however, looks out on a fence so the stained glass obscures
the view, but lets the light through. The glass can take strong
light and really is vibrant when the sun comes through. 30"

between two pieces of clear glass for installation purposes and
has a decorative wrought iron grate on the outside of the window
opening.
